Easter time at True Blue Bay is one of our favorite times as we always have families staying with us with little ones who enjoy our resort’s pools and playgrounds. It is also nice to see our repeat guests and their familiar faces again. This year is no exception; we can hear lots of giggles by the pools every morning and see smiling happy little faces all around the place. Our new playground has definitely been a big hit this year as well as the bubble making program at Aquanauts dive center. Our Chef and cooks have been busy, busy preparing lots of dishes from our very popular kids menu.

The preparations for our Annual Easter Bazaar and Kids' Easter Egg Hunt are almost done. Last year we had quite a lot of participants and this year, we hope, will be no exception.

We have the Easter Eggs all ready to go; the vendors for the Bazaar are preparing their crafts and other goods to sell for the day.

This year, we are encouraging the local artists and craftspeople by giving prizes for the most innovative craft, the most ecofriendly craft, and the craft made with 100% local products. We are very excited to see the results and the creativity of our local Grenadian People.

We will also have the Grenada Discovery Train running between the Spiceland Mall and True Blue Bay Resort as a special treat. The charge is only EC$10 roundtrip for adults; kids accompanied by parents will ride for FREE.

If you are visiting Grenada this coming Saturday April 23rd from 10am to 5pm, come to True Blue Bay Resort and have the opportunity to see some of the best Arts and Crafts Grenadians have to offer all in one place! A great opportunity to get your island souvenirs too.

Kids' Easter Egg Hunt will be at 1pm, refreshments, tropical cocktails, Calypso BBQ and great music will be available all day.

On Easter Saturday and Sunday, it is also a Grenadian tradition to fly kites at Quarantine Point park; this is also a great activity for families visiting Grenada for Easter. The view of the island from this breezy location is truly spectacular. Make sure to buy your kites in advance, you will probably see local people selling them on the streets. Also, don’t forget to bring a hat, sun block and drinks for the kite flying, as it can get quite hot.

True Blue Bay Resort Grenada At Digicel Workboat Regatta 2011

The excitement and thrill of workboat racing has been very much embedded into our culture. It’s a tradition for sailing villages such Gouyave, Worburn, Carriacou and Petite Martinique which have been competing for years. It’s one of the few times in Grenada where the generation gap is mended as the art of workboat building and racing is passed on.

At this regatta, we surely experienced the excitement as many of the races were very competitive. You could not have predicted who would win the race. This had the onlookers very anxious and nervous.

It was a fun time. They had a tug-of-war competition of adults and kids hosted by Body and Soul Gym. Also, there was live music with the Digicel Steel Pan Orchestra and the Roots Band.

Workboat racing promises to get bigger every year as it has become a part of the Grenadian Culture. We can't wait for next regatta and we hope you will attend to experience the excitement. We guarantee you will enjoy!!!

True Blue Bay Resort Grenada at Port Louis Sailing Festival 2011

From January 28th to February 1st was the Camper & Nicholson Port Louis Grenada Sailing Festival 2011. This year 38 yachts were participating, which was a bit lower than last year. Most of the foreign yachts came from Trinidad and Barbados; however, we were honoured to see yachts from Brazil and Germany as well.

Among them was our very own Triumph, Contessa 40. Triumph belongs to our Owner/General Manager, Mr. Russ Fielden. Although we did not win anything, we had a ball of a time sailing. It seems that we had the slowest yacht, so imagine what our position was at the end.

There were 7 races and they were all held on the southern coast of Grenada. The most exciting races were at Point Salines where the wind was about 18 to 20 knots and the seas 6 ft. Point Salines is the southern tip of Grenada and where the Caribbean Sea meets and Atlantic Ocean.

The racing was quite competitive as we witnessed numerous "near miss" collisions at buoys.

The Overall winner was Peter Morris and Jaguar (Frers 43) from Trinidad. Congrats to them and every person and yacht present. We look forward to seeing them next year. We at True Blue Bay will be there too!!!!

Mermaid Contest

The mermaid contest was a success. Alot of the people turn out to support there family and friends at the contest. Present was representives from the media, Grenada Board of Tourism, Grenada Tourism and Association, Concepts marking, Ally Dally Marketing, Maca Bana Hotel and Aquarium Restaurants and other specially invited guest.

It was the first time this event was ever held in Grenada and it seems that it will be made an annual event.

Only the Binki Top Decription and Marine question was done in this contest but in future contest all four categories will be gone.

Lisa Williams

Lisa Williams is an experienced holistic therapist and teacher of yoga, meditation and stress management. After completing her BA (Hons.) in Social Psychology at the University of Sussex, U.K., she went on to train in Holistic Massage, Anatomy and Physiology at the Wilbury School of Natural Therapy in Hove, East Sussex, gaining an I.T.E.C. (Distinction), and then in Advanced Massage from the Equilibrium Centre in Lewes, East Sussex.. She has a 200 hour teacher's certificate (recognised by the Yoga Alliance) from the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Ashram in Tyrol, Austria. She has taught both group and private classes, from beginners to advanced, in Grenada, St.Vincent, London, Surrey and Edinburgh. She gained her Reiki (II) practitioner level in London from Buddhist nun Sama Helen Jeffries. Her classes have been featured on the BBC Holiday programme and she has received glowing reviews from Vogue (UK), The Times, and The Financial Times.

Rhythmns of Summner Meet and Greet at Dodgy Dock

On Saturday 10th July at was rhythms of summer meet and greet. At this session the band members for Eddie Bullen's band had a free music workshop with our local musician. It was a time where the musicians learn from the professionals. Attending the session was about 40 persons. The session was a success and many of the participators express sincere gratitude for the session.

On Friday 4th June 2010 We hosted the wedding celebration of Mark and Martina Philip. The couple lives in Alaska however Martina was born in Grenada. It was a lovely wedding. Most of the family members present were of Martina's. Mark had no problem adjusting to his new family and surroundings.

Very Welcome Rain!
After the longest dry season we can remember Grenada is finally getting some rain this May. Our gardens are starting to look better and the whole of Grenada is getting back its lovely lush green look. The drought in the Eastern Caribbean islands this year was very severe, so we are extremely happy to have a bit of rain. If you are coming on holiday some time soon, don't worry, the rain only last for few minutes and then we have our much loved sunshine back. Unfortunately we have lost several trees to the drought; these will be replaced as soon as young trees are available from the local nursery.

TAMCC (our local Grenada College) Students finish their summer training at True Blue Bay Resort this week. Each student had to be instructed in each hotel department, it was wonderful to see how they learn and enjoy working in the different departments, Front Desk, Food and Beverage (including kitchen, restaurant and purchasing) and Housekeeping. This year we offered jobs to the best two trainees, Nicole McSween and Esther Perrotte. Honorable Glynis Roberts Ministry of Social Development, Ecclesiastical Affairs & Labour did the honors, presenting diplomas to all of them. We are looking forward to work with Nicole and Esther.

Farmers Market at True Blue Every Monday and Wednesday mornings, you can go shopping for fresh produce direct from the farmer. Livingston, one of our local farmers, has offered to pick up and bring back True Blue Bay Resort guests to shop at the farmers market at St. George’s University (3 minutes ride away from TBBR). He offers a selection of fresh fruits, vegetables and juices at a special farmer’s price.

The Green Sea Turtles are back for Happy Hour at True Blue Bay!

Around sunset is supper time for the "Green Sea Turtles" at True Blue Bay. If you pay careful attention to the water's surface when sitting at the Dodgy Dock sipping your "Happy Hour" cocktail, you can see their little heads popping out of the water for a breath of air. They feed on the green grass from the bottom of the bay. Before hurricane Ivan, they used to come every day between 4 & 6pm. Just in the last few months, we have been seeing many of them back swimming in the bay. True Blue guests sailing our hobie cats have reported several sights, including large Leather Back Turtles. Turtle watch starts mid April in Grenada. Tours can be booked with several professional operators working together with Ocean Spirits.
